"In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps."
Proverbs 16:9
Tonight was the first GCC Villanova small group for the Spring semester, so we all shared a highlight from our winter break. I said that I turned 27 earlier this month. Almost everyone was surprised. They thought I was in my early 20's (please insert a warm, appreciative smile here).
Yes, yes... I am 27 years old.
For as long as I can remember, I thought I would be settling down this year - individually and relationally. To be more specific, I thought I would have my career figured out and that I would be getting married this summer. You know what? I don't have my life figured out - I'll be doing a lot of new things this year, including starting a PhD program (I hope!), but the LORD has yet to show me a man of God who is adored by my parents and me.
So that's when I realized what I want my New Years resolution to be for 2011: I want to dedicate this year to God. The year that I have looked forward to for so long. The year that I had always thought would be the "golden year". The year I thought would be all about me. I want to turn it upside down and make it less about me and more about God. Please feel free to hold me accountable.
Hi Christine,
ReplyDeleteYou don't know me, but I am a member of an OP church in Gainesville, FL (Redemption OPC). My mother sent me a post from your blog (the one where you quote Marcus Mininger - a dear friend of our family). I would like to faithfully pray for you this year. I read a few of your posts, and will follow your blog this year. Please let me know how to pray for you.
Your post above reminded me of Matthew 6:33.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Your sister in Christ,
Shelli
Hi Shelli...
ReplyDeleteWow! Thank you so much for your comment! I assume that nobody reads my blog, so I am always pleasantly surprised when someone leaves a comment - let alone you, whom I have yet to meet!
I know Marcus Mininger because he was one of my professors during my first year at Westminster Theological Seminary. I will be graduating from Westminster next month with a Masters degree in Biblical Counseling.
Thank you so much for committing to praying for me this year! Wow! I truly covet your prayers - especially considering you are home-schooling your two beloved children (I cannot even begin to imagine how busy you must be)!
Thank you, also, for sharing the Bible verse with me!
I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
God Bless,
Christine
Hi Christine,
ReplyDeleteWhat an accomplishment! Congratulations! I look forward to seeing where the Lord leads you. Have you applied to any PhD programs? Also, I read you were seeing someone (Terry), but it looks like in this post that you are single, yes?
I want to pray very specifically for you, so I just want to be sure. Since my last post, I have been praying the the Lord blesses your endeavors to be a wife and mother, and that He would give you wisdom concerning your future.
I'll keep checking in. Have a wonderful week!
Love,
Shelli
